EMDR therapy for when talk therapy isn’t enough

If you feel stuck in the same patterns, overwhelmed by past experiences, or like you understand your story but still can’t shift it, EMDR can help your nervous system process what talking alone hasn’t.

What is EMDR therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy approach that helps your brain and body process experiences that feel “stuck.”

Instead of only talking about what happened, EMDR works with how those experiences are stored in your nervous system, so they can finally move, integrate, and resolve.

You don’t have to relive everything. And you don’t have to force insight.
Your brain already knows how to heal- EMDR helps it do that.

EMDR can help with:

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Anxiety and panic

  • Relationship and interpersonal patterns

  • Childhood and attachment wounds

  • Negative core beliefs (like “I’m not enough,” “I’m not safe”, “I’m not loveable)

  • Feeling stuck despite years of traditional talk therapy

  • Chronic stress or nervous system dysregulation

At Carlisle Collective, EMDR isn’t something we “drop in” as a technique.

It’s woven into a depth-oriented, relational approach that includes:

Our approach to EMDR

  • nervous system regulation

  • attachment-focused work

  • relational attunement

  • parts work (IFS-informed)

  • mindfulness and body awareness

We don’t rush the process.
We don’t force intensity (really).
And we don’t treat EMDR like a protocol to get through.

We use it thoughtfully — so the healing actually lands.

Eating disorders and concerns we often support

Our therapists have supported clients experiencing a wide range of eating disorders, disordered eating patterns, and body image struggles.

Some of the conditions our clients live with include:

  • anorexia

  • bulimia

  • binge eating disorder

  • disordered eating

  • ARFID

  • chronic dieting

  • body image distress

  • fear of weight gain

  • compulsive exercise & orthorexia

  • emotional eating

  • perfectionism and control around food

  • athletes struggling with food or performance pressure

  • teen and young adult eating concerns

We work with clients in Austin and throughout Texas navigating many different types of eating and body image struggles. We offer both in-person and virtual therapy, and we often collaborate with dietitians and other providers so clients feel supported from multiple angles.

Even if your experience doesn’t fit a specific diagnosis, therapy can still help you understand what’s happening and find a healthier way forward.
