IADC Therapy in Austin, Texas

Grief doesn’t always end when someone dies.

Sometimes there are things left unsaid. Questions without answers. Guilt, anger, longing, or simply an overwhelming desire to feel connected to someone you’ve lost.

Induced After-Death Communication (IADC) is a brief, EMDR-based therapeutic approach developed specifically for grief. It is designed to help people process the emotional pain surrounding a loss and often leads to a spontaneous experience of connection with the person who has died.

Some grief feels unfinished.

You may understand intellectually that someone is gone and still feel as though some part of you hasn’t caught up.

Maybe the relationship was complicated. The death was sudden. There were things that you never got to say. Or maybe nothing was unfinished at all… you simply miss them in a way that feels impossible to put into words.

If any of this sounds familiar:

  • feeling exhausted from constantly managing symptoms, appointments, and uncertainty

  • grief about how your body or life has changed

  • uncertainty about who you are outside of your illness

  • frustration with doctors or the medical system

  • anxiety about flare-ups or the future of your health

  • feeling misunderstood by friends, family, or coworkers

  • guilt about needing more rest, support, or accommodations

  • difficulty maintaining relationships, work, or daily responsibilities

  • a sense of isolation that others don’t fully understand

Living with chronic illness or chronic pain can affect every part of life, not just your physical health.

Therapy offers a space to process what you're going through with someone who understands the emotional complexity of living with chronic illness or chronic pain.
