You know that relationships aren’t supposed to be easy, but you didn’t know it was going to be this hard. It seems like the more you do to try and fix the problem, the worse it gets. You and your partner are spiraling; but more importantly, you’re spiraling away from each other. You’re frantic, you’re hopeless, and you’re doing everything you know how to do to stop the problems. You miss the connection in your relationship. You miss how easy and natural things used to be. If you could just do something… anything to fix the relationship, you would.

Here’s the deal: the real solution is actually in doing less. You’re exhausted from all you do, and it’s not working. I’ve been there too. This was my cycle for years (and still is sometimes, I’m helplessly human too), so I get it. First, let’s educate you about the patterns below the cycle of arguing and fighting. Then, let’s understand how and why you show up like you do, cultivate a ton of compassion for you and your past hurts, and together, use trauma processing and mindful, somatic awareness to help you embrace the secure, safe relationship you so desire.

So let’s work together! At this point, I do have a waitlist, but there are lots of therapists that I work with directly through training, education, and supervision who also know what it’s like to be in your shoes. Read a little about them here or reach out to our client care coordinator who can help match you with a therapist who truly meets your needs. Still want to work with me? Sign up for my waitlist to be contacted when I have openings in my schedule to accommodate new clients in the wholehearted, spacious way I love working.

Current Approach
I’m aware that therapy can be a significant financial investment. As such, my current approach is aimed at getting deeper, faster. If you’ve previously felt stuck with other therapists or approaches and know that insight simply isn’t enough, I’d love to talk more. This approach, however, is not necessarily intended to be based on a long-term therapeutic relationship. Currently, I am shifting toward a model in which a longer-term therapeutic relationship model is maintained in a group format. If you know that you are the type of person who values regular check-ins, I’m with you! Personally, I am the same way. If that sounds like you, group therapy may be for you! Please see my current group offerings here or inquire about additional opportunities here.

Professional
While in grad school, I completed my practicum at Montrose Counseling Center (now, The Montrose Center), a community and counseling center for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender adolescents and adults and their loved ones. I have also worked in nursing homes, at a local methadone clinic, with adolescents and adults in short-term psychiatric care, in a Buddhist collaborative therapeutic community, and most recently, with adolescents and young adults in private practice.

My deep clinical passion focuses specifically on healing the attachment wounds that we bring into our romantic relationships through a combination of EMDR and mindfulness so that my clients can show up wholeheartedly in every relationship that they have. Many of my clients also have concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma-related issues, addiction, sexuality, and the challenging transition from adolescence to young adulthood. I have completed both a 200-hour vinyasa and 200-hour meditation training and use these contemplative perspectives in my clinical approach.

My clients would say that I’m challenging, creative, empathic, and occasionally irreverent. I understand that the most effective therapy is built on the authentic, meaningful relationship that the client and therapist develop together. There is healing not just in the information that I can give to you, but in the relationship and co-regulation that takes place in the therapy room. That’s why the therapeutic relationship is so vitally important.

I have a deep passion for non-traditional forms of health and healing and often use this context for viewing you and your emotional symptoms, while I tailor each session to meet your needs. I believe that you have everything you need to succeed- sometimes, you just stand in your own way. Together, we can work to help you achieve your highest level of happiness and health.

Personal
I am avid about healing. I grew up in an addicted family system and lost my mom at 22. I've been in therapy for over two decades. My yoga and meditation practice is a daily one. I find humor in almost everything. I cry often and love hard. I have rescued three boxers who you may get to meet in the office or background of our session- I mean, just look at their faces! I also have an 18-year-old grumpy cat. I like exploring, tinkering, and am passionate about developing new hobbies and skills (but not always finishing projects!). I'm progressive politically and believe that dismantling the historically oppressive and patriarchal systems of therapy is crucial as a therapist. I am originally from San Antonio and have lived in Austin for 12 years.

ELLA MAY

Ella May is my 7-year-old rescue boxer and sidekick. She is gentle and very wiggly. She will occasionally grace your screens or office visits. She enjoys walks, attention, and curling up next to anyone who will allow her! I will always check with you before she visits the office; if you have any concerns, please let me know!
