You’re in a transitory period. It seems like life has always laid out the next steps for you before, but now you’re feeling lost. You feel disconnected from yourself and others and have realized you don’t know much about who you are outside of the roles you’ve always filled. It seems like other people are happier and more sure of themselves. You’ve been living your day to day on autopilot, and want to feel more fulfilled and present in your life. You know you have pains from growing up, but you aren’t totally sure how to heal. I understand where you are, and I would love to provide a dedicated space for you to reconnect with yourself.

Personal
Growing up in an alcoholic family system, I kept my feelings to myself and tried not to make any waves. Every day I’m learning more and more how to slow down, feel, and express my needs to others. I’ve found freedom in releasing identities and expectations that I don’t need anymore, and I’m passionate about helping my clients to do the same. Throughout my life, people have told me that I provide a safe space for them. I value humor, authenticity, and open-mindedness. I incorporate all of these into therapy- sometimes you just have to laugh at the more ridiculous parts of the human experience.

As an adult, I’ve found practices that actually help me to feel like myself, like yoga, meditation, and my own therapy. I also enjoy reading, painting, and watching reality TV. I have a dog named Frankie who reminds me daily of the joy in the small things. You probably won’t meet her in person due to her extremely high level of excitement around new people, but she’s definitely cheering for you!

Professional
A foundation of safety and trust is necessary in the healing process. I believe the therapeutic relationship has transformative powers of its own, especially for those of us who struggle to express our feelings and needs in our relationships. I work best with clients who want to do challenging self-work. Each client’s experience is unique, so you’re in charge of your course of therapy and what you want to focus on. I want therapy to feel like a space where you really can bring whatever feels important to you into session.  I believe in our wholeness as humans, and that the most effective therapy utilizes more than just our thinking brains.

I use a combination of talk therapy, somatic techniques, and EMDR to help clients heal from disconnection from self and others caused by past painful experiences. There is so much information and feeling accessible to us if we slow down and get in touch with our physical selves. Once we begin to identify and heal from the experiences that caused us to develop the beliefs and coping strategies that we had as children, we can let go of the ones that no longer serve us. We become empowered to take control of our lives!
