Personal
After I completed my undergraduate degree in Psychology, I worked for over 20 years in the tech industry as a user experience researcher. While I’ve had a very rewarding career, I also became burned out in the fast-paced corporate environments I worked in and saw first-hand how damaging the pressures unique to that industry can be to a person’s soul. I wanted to find a new way to relate to myself and others, and in 2015, I encountered two practices that would change the course of my life: Zen meditation and Hakomi, a method of assisted self-study in mindfulness.

Both of these modalities helped me reconnect with my body and my heart. While I felt profound healing and a return to wholeness within me, I also felt the call to help others, what in Zen is called the vow of the Bodhisattva.

Most days, when I’m not typing away on my laptop, you can find me out riding my gravel bike long distances for exercise and mental well-being or cooking delicious food with my wife Jessica. My latest passion project is an exploration of permaculture and the simple, essential joys of harvesting food directly from the soil.

Professional
My desire to help others led me to pursue a previously unrealized dream of attending graduate school to become a licensed therapist. I’m enrolled at Naropa University, completing a Master’s in Mindfulness-Based Transpersonal Counseling Psychology. I chose this program because, in addition to learning the clinical skills I was looking for, it also provides training in the transpersonal - experiences in our lives that sometimes feel bigger than ourselves and may need additional support to integrate. This can be the big “why” questions we sometimes encounter due to big events in life, like the death of a loved one, the end or beginning of a new relationship, or the birth of a child.

In addition to the training and clinical skills I’m learning in my program, my core therapeutic modality has always been Hakomi, a means of understanding ourselves through the lens of our bodies and the unconscious motivators that often drive our behaviors and perspectives.

I’m passionate about using these teachings to help people find their freedom and sovereignty in their lives.
